Business Numerology Reference: The Complete Data Tables

2 Sep 2026 · Updated 13 Sep 2026 · 2937 words · Reference · How this is checked

Business numerology's reference data is four tables and one matrix: each digit from 1 to 9 carries a planet, every letter carries a value, two-digit compounds carry their own verdicts, and numbers regard one another as friendly, neutral or adverse. This page states all of it as one interpretive tradition holds it, including the places where its own sources disagree.

Everything below is the exact data this site computes with. Where the classical sources and the business sources contradict each other, both positions are given rather than one being quietly chosen.

Which planet rules each number?

Every friendship claim, every industry rule and every compound reading in this tradition rests on this map. Note that 4 and 7 are given the two lunar nodes, not the outer planets used in Western systems — the sources this reference draws on use the nodal attribution without exception.

  • 1 — Sun (Surya) · Sunday · gold · ruby · kinglike, kind, royal, disciplined, authoritative, strong, original
  • 2 — Moon (Chandra) · Monday · silver · pearl · queenlike, royal, attractive, everchanging, delicate
  • 3 — Jupiter (Guru) · Thursday · gold · yellow sapphire · spiritual, counselling, friendly, self-centred, disciplined
  • 4 — Rahu · no weekday · lead · hessonite · rebellious, impulsive, short-tempered, secretive
  • 5 — Mercury (Budha) · Wednesday · brass · emerald · princely, entertaining, wily, intelligent, sensitive
  • 6 — Venus (Shukra) · Friday · silver · diamond · romantic, slow, sensual, sweet spoken, diplomatic, manipulative
  • 7 — Ketu · no weekday · mixed metal · cat's eye · mystical, dreamlike, intuitive, inventive
  • 8 — Saturn (Shani) · Saturday · iron · blue sapphire · wise, laborious, enduring, structural, testing
  • 9 — Mars (Mangal) · Tuesday · copper · red coral · warlike, strong, rustic, perfectionist, doubting, driven

Two of these carry a structural note. 4 and 7 are the shadow bodies — the head and the body of a single figure in the myth — which is why the tradition treats them as completing each other and why they behave differently from the seven ordinary planets. Zero is not on this list at all: in this system zero has no letter, no planet and no friendship, and is read only as something that hollows out or amplifies the digit beside it.

What is the complete Chaldean letter table?

The Chaldean table is the default for all name work here. Its distinguishing feature is that no letter carries the value 9 — nine is reachable only as a total, never as a letter.

  • 1 = A, I, J, Q, Y
  • 2 = B, K, R
  • 3 = C, G, L, S
  • 4 = D, M, T
  • 5 = E, H, N, X
  • 6 = U, V, W
  • 7 = O, Z
  • 8 = F, P
  • 9 = no letter

Per letter, for lookup: A 1, B 2, C 3, D 4, E 5, F 8, G 3, H 5, I 1, J 1, K 2, L 3, M 4, N 5, O 7, P 8, Q 1, R 2, S 3, T 4, U 6, V 6, W 6, X 5, Y 1, Z 7.

Two cautions that matter if you are comparing this against another published table. First, H is 5 here, not 8. Chaldean tables printed elsewhere sometimes put H at 8; the sources behind this reference state H as 5 in four independent places, and F and P alone at 8. Second, digits inside a name count at face value, the ampersand is not counted while the spelled word "and" is, and registrar-conferred suffixes such as Pvt Ltd, LLP, LLC, Inc and GmbH are stripped by default on the reasoning that a suffix the government issued is shared by millions of companies and carries no signature of its own. A minority of sources count them; totalling a name both ways and comparing is the honest approach. You can run either version in the business name analyzer.

What is the Pythagorean letter table?

The Pythagorean or Western table is offered for comparison. It assigns A through I the values 1 to 9, then repeats, so unlike the Chaldean table it does use 9 as a letter value.

  • 1 = A, J, S
  • 2 = B, K, T
  • 3 = C, L, U
  • 4 = D, M, V
  • 5 = E, N, W
  • 6 = F, O, X
  • 7 = G, P, Y
  • 8 = H, Q, Z
  • 9 = I, R

The two systems disagree on most letters and therefore on most name totals. They also disagree about the relationship between 3 and 6: the Chaldean camp reads 3 and 6 as opposed, while the Pythagorean camp groups 3, 6 and 9 as a single family. That single disagreement changes verdicts on a large number of real names. The two tables are set side by side in Chaldean vs Pythagorean numerology.

How do the friend, neutral and adverse relationships work?

This is the part of the reference most often reproduced incorrectly elsewhere, because the matrix is directional. How number A regards number B is not always how B regards A. Symmetrising it — which is what a simple grid invites you to do — destroys real information the tradition records.

Read each line as "this number regards the following numbers as…".

  • 1 — friends 2, 3, 5, 6 · neutral 1, 4, 7, 9 · adverse 8
  • 2 — friends 1, 3, 5 · neutral 2, 6, 7 · adverse 4, 8, 9
  • 3 — friends 1, 2, 3, 5 · neutral 4, 7, 8, 9 · adverse 6
  • 4 — friends 1, 5, 6, 7 · neutral 3 · adverse 2, 4, 8, 9
  • 5 — friends 1 through 9 · no neutrals, no adversaries
  • 6 — friends 1, 5, 6, 7 · neutral 2, 4, 8 · adverse 3, 9
  • 7 — friends 1, 5, 6 · neutral 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 · no adversaries
  • 8 — friends 3, 5, 6, 7 · no neutrals · adverse 1, 2, 4, 8, 9
  • 9 — friends 1, 5 · neutral 3, 7, 9 · adverse 2, 4, 6, 8

The worked asymmetric pair: 1 and 4. A 1 regards 4 as merely neutral. A 4 regards 1 as a friend. The tradition explains this through the planets: the king does not count the shadow as a friend, but the shadow counts the king as one. So a founder on 1 partnering with a founder on 4 is a lopsided arrangement — the 4 will invest more warmth in the relationship than it receives back. Two more asymmetries work the same way: an 8 counts 3 and 7 as friends, while 3 and 7 both count 8 only as neutral. Reading only one direction gives you half the picture, which is why the partnership compatibility tool always reports both.

Three further structural points. 5 is the universal support — it has no adversary in the whole table and is compatible with every other number. 7 also has no adversary, but the sources add a caution: it is called the number of confusion, so an absence of hostility is not the same thing as trustworthiness. And 8 has no neutrals at all — it is either friendly or adverse to every number including itself.

Separately from the matrix, this tradition keeps a short list of pairings it refuses outright for a business partnership: 1-8, 2-8, 2-9, 2-7, 3-6, 4-8, 4-9, 4-4 and 8-8. Note that 2-7 sits on the refusal list while the matrix rates it mutually neutral — the refusal comes from a named adverse combination rather than from the friendship reading, and the two layers are kept separate on purpose.

Which compound numbers are rated highest, and which are cautioned against?

A compound is the two-digit total before reduction. This tradition holds that the compound carries more information than the reduced digit — two names that both reduce to 5 behave differently if one arrived from 23 and the other from 41. Verdicts below are the settled reading for each; the full entries live at compound numbers.

Rated highest (four compounds):

  • 23 — reads as a promise of success with help arriving from people in senior positions; the most favoured route to a 5
  • 33 — associated with wealth accumulation and treasury; the condition attached is that it suits a business which does not demand very high energy
  • 41 — the most frequently prescribed compound in the whole tradition; associated with name, recognition and international reach
  • 51 — the fastest-growth compound, with an explicit burnout warning: some owners cannot sustain the energy it brings

Rated favourably: 14, 15, 19, 21, 27, 32, 37, 39, 45, 46, 50, 55, 57, 59, 60 and 86.

Cautioned against: 11, 18, 20, 29, 31, 35, 36, 38, 40, 43, 47, 48 and 49.

Held in caution rather than refusal: 10, 12, 13, 17, 22 and 28.

Genuinely split, where the sources disagree with each other: 16, 24, 25, 26, 30, 42, 44 and 64.

Three of the split ones are worth stating plainly, because a reference that hid them would be misleading. 16 is called one of the worst numbers to carry, and by the same voice, outstanding for jewellery and luxury ventures — the resolution offered is that the compound must be matched to the business type rather than judged absolutely. 26 is ranked the best of the eight-forms by one business source, which then does not recommend it for a name; another calls it a jinx outright; the classical written tradition calls it full of the gravest warnings. 44 is condemned in the classical table and treated as perfectly workable in the business sources. Where a compound is split, this site marks it split.

The tradition also records upgrade paths — a name sitting on a cautioned compound is moved to a favoured neighbour by editing the spelling: 31 and 36 move to 37, 47 moves to 50, 48 moves to 39 or 57, 81 moves to 86. The mechanics are covered in company name change numerology.

Which numbers does each industry favour?

Favoured numbers first, then any the method blocks for that sector. Some blocks are conditional — they attach to a segment of the sector rather than the whole of it — and the industry compatibility tool reports those separately.

  • Real estate and property — favoured 5, 8, 6, 2
  • Construction and infrastructure — favoured 8, 4, 1, 2 · blocked 7
  • E-commerce — favoured 9, 5, 4, 6 · 8 and 4 blocked where the catalogue is liquids, oil, chemicals or dairy
  • Retail and FMCG — favoured 5, 2, 6 · 3 advised against for showroom and boutique retail
  • Import, export and trading — favoured 5, 6, 7, 8, 3
  • Technology and IT — favoured 4, 5, 7, 1, 9
  • SaaS and software products — favoured 4, 7, 5
  • Digital marketing and advertising — favoured 5, 3, 4, 7 · blocked 2
  • Media, entertainment and content — favoured 3, 5, 6, 2, 4
  • Finance, lending and insurance — favoured 8, 5, 3, 1 · 8 advised against for share broking, 6 for interest-based lending, 4 for derivatives
  • Education and EdTech — favoured 3, 7, 9, 2, 8 · blocked 6
  • Consulting and professional services — favoured 3, 7, 8, 9, 2, 4
  • Personal brands and coaching — favoured 3, 9, 7, 6
  • Healthcare, pharma and wellness — favoured 2, 7, 9, 3, 8 · blocked 6
  • Travel and hospitality — favoured 5, 3, 6, 2, 7, 1
  • Restaurants and food service — favoured 3, 6, 2, 1 · blocked 8, 9
  • Manufacturing and industrial — favoured 9, 8, 1, 4 · blocked 7
  • Logistics and transport — favoured 5, 7, 2, 8 · 8 advised against where the cargo is liquids, oil, chemicals or dairy
  • Automobile — favoured 4, 6, 8, 9
  • Energy and electricals — favoured 1, 9, 6, 4 · 8 blocked from solar specifically
  • Agriculture and agri-business — favoured 5, 8, 2, 7 · 8 excluded from wheat trading
  • Luxury, jewellery and fashion — favoured 6, 2, 5, 1 · blocked 3
  • Textiles and apparel — favoured 6, 2, 5, 8 · blocked 3
  • Legal services — favoured 8, 9, 4 · blocked 7
  • Security and defence — favoured 9, 8, 4, 7 · blocked 2
  • Telecom and communications — favoured 5, 1, 8

Not every block rests on equal footing. The block on 6 in education, for example, comes from a single source stating it emphatically with one softer corroboration, while others rest on several sources agreeing. This site labels the evidence weight on each rule rather than presenting them all with identical confidence, because a rule that removes an entire sector from a ninth of all founders should say how well supported it is. Sector pages are indexed at industry guides.

Which digit pairs are read as favourable or severe in a phone number?

Adjacent digit pairs are read separately from name compounds — the same two digits can read one way as a name total and another way inside a number string. The clearest example is 86: favourable as a name compound, difficult as an adjacent pair.

Read as favourable:

  • 13 and 31 — the strongest of the favourable pairs; knowledge, leadership and money
  • 12 — magnetism and money that stays put; 51 — money and movement; 15 — idea to execution
  • 29 and 92 — skill growth, opportunity and steady money flow, at the cost of constant running about
  • 37 and 73 — adaptability and innovation; favoured for startups and for teaching
  • 19 and 91 — ambition and completion, with the side-effect that the carrier rarely feels free
  • 69 and 96 — comfort, taste and reaching decision-making positions
  • 47 and 74 — credibility; 38 and 83 — property and banking; 25 and 52 — healing and intuition
  • 11 — authority; 75 and 57 — occult and management; 95 and 59 — intelligence that communicates

Read as severe:

  • 14 and 41 — loss and debt; the highest exposure in the set
  • 48 and 84 — health and energy drain; described as the most dangerous pair, and specifically to be kept off a vehicle number
  • 44 — the double shadow; named as an absolute avoid
  • 16 and 61 — income blockages; 18 and 81 — friction with authority and officialdom
  • 28 and 82 — stagnation and accident; 45 and 54 — delay, hospitals and courts
  • 46 and 64 — distraction and excess; 68 and 86 — health and entanglement
  • 65, 56, 58 and 85 — money that gets stuck; 87 and 78 — loss of heart
  • 88 — compounded delay; 99 — excess heat and conflict

Several severe pairs carry stated professional exceptions: 45 and 54 bring clients rather than trouble to doctors, lawyers and judges; 68 and 86 do the same for surgeons; 89 is considered acceptable in law, medicine and technology; 79 is stated to work only for lawyers. Longer sequences are named too — 319 and 517 as the best closings for a business line, 1881, 4114 and 2772 as the worst. Run a line through the phone number analyzer to see which pairs it actually contains.

What are the karmic debt and master numbers?

Karmic debt numbers: 13, 14, 16, 19. All four begin with 1, which the tradition reads as the self fused to a second planet it cannot get along with. The engine must check for these at the two-digit stage, before reduction, because all four reduce to numbers that look strong: 13 to 4, 14 to 5, 16 to 7, 19 to 1. Reduce first and the karmic state disappears silently. One source adds 26 to the set.

Master numbers: reduced by default. The sources hold four incompatible rosters. Some keep only 11 and 22, on the reasoning that only these can appear as a birth-day number. One extends the set to 11, 22, 33, 55, 66, 77 and 88 while explicitly excluding 44. The written canon keeps 11, 22, 33 and 44. Because the difference changes the output for any name totalling 44 or 55, this site's calculators reduce to a single digit by default and offer 11, 22 and 33 — or 11, 22, 33 and 44 — as selectable rules, rather than picking one roster silently.

The disputes here run deeper than the roster. The classical written table reads 11 as ominous and 22 as a warning number — flatly opposite to the "master" reading. It reads 13 as not unfortunate, against the practising consensus that 13 is dangerous. It reads 14 as fortunate for money, speculation and changes in business, against the practising reading of 14 as a karmic number. One pattern worth noting, though it is an inference rather than a stated rule: the karmic readings are almost always applied to people, and the favourable readings almost always to brands.

Frequently asked questions

Why does no letter carry the value 9 in the Chaldean table?

The written tradition gives the reason directly: nine was held to represent a divine name, and so no single letter was assigned to it. The practical consequence is that 9 is reachable only as a total, never as a letter value. A name can still add up to 9, and when it does, the ordinary meaning of 9 applies. The Pythagorean table takes the opposite approach and assigns 9 to I and R.

Is the compatibility matrix really asymmetric, or is that an error?

It is deliberate and the sources are explicit about it. A 4 counts 1 as a friend while a 1 counts 4 only as neutral; an 8 counts 3 and 7 as friends while both count 8 only as neutral. The asymmetry is explained through planetary hierarchy — a lesser body counts a greater one as a friend without the compliment being returned. Symmetrising the matrix discards that, which is why this site reports both directions.

Which system should a business use, Chaldean or Pythagorean?

The tradition this site documents uses Chaldean as its default for all name work, and treats Pythagorean as a comparison system. The sources give two reasons: it is the more widely practised of the two in this lineage, and its values were said to be derived from sound rather than from alphabet order. That is a statement about which tradition is being followed, not a claim that one produces better outcomes than the other.

Why do some compound numbers have two opposite verdicts?

Because the sources genuinely disagree, and averaging them would produce a reading no practitioner would recognise. The compounds 16, 24, 25, 26, 30, 42, 44 and 64 all carry contradictory readings across the material. Where a conflict exists this site reports it as split and states both positions, rather than picking the more convenient one. The resolution the tradition itself offers for 16 is that the compound should be matched to the business type.

Most sources say no, on the test "did the government give it to you?" — a registrar-conferred suffix is shared across millions of companies and carries no individual signature. A minority count them, and one worked example totals a full registered name with the suffix included. Because including or excluding a suffix changes the compound, the honest approach is to compute both and see whether they point the same way.

The limits of this reference

This is one interpretive tradition's reference data, recorded as faithfully as the material allows. It is not a description of how the world works, and none of it has been demonstrated by any method outside the tradition itself.

The material disagrees with itself in the places named above: on the master-number roster, on eight contested compounds, on whether 3 and 6 are opposed or family, on whether legal suffixes count, on whether a driver number or a destiny number selects a career, and on whether several individual sectors are open or closed to particular numbers. Where the disagreement is recorded, this page records it rather than resolving it. There are also real gaps — the compound tables run out above 86, and any long company name will produce totals the tradition has nothing to say about.

Nothing here is financial, legal, medical or investment advice, and no arrangement of numbers determines a business outcome. Treat this as a reference to a symbolic system, useful for the questions it makes you ask about a name, a partnership or a launch date — and then make the decision on the merits. Terminology is defined in the numerology glossary, and the reasoning behind every rule the site ships is set out in the methodology.

Where this sits in the method

The reference rules behind this article, with the pages that set each of them out in full.

Three numbers, three different jobs

The birth number describes temperament, the destiny number describes direction, and the name number describes what a name carries. The same digit reads differently in each role, and the method keeps them apart throughout.

The compound sits under the digit

A name total is a two-digit number before it is reduced, and the two-digit reading is where the difference between two names on the same digit is recorded.

Prohibitions are blocks, not low scores

Where the source material tells a number to stay out of a trade, it is stated absolutely rather than as a weak fit. Those blocks are applied as blocks on the sector guides.
