Industry Compatibility
The industry compatibility checker scores a number from 1 to 9 against a business sector, using the map in which the source material names, sector by sector, which numbers it favours and which it refuses. Enter a number — or a name for us to total — and see where it sits.
What the industry compatibility checker does
The industry compatibility checker scores a number from 1 to 9 against a business sector. It uses a map of 26 sectors in which the source material names, sector by sector, the numbers it favours, the order it favours them in, the numbers it advises against and the cases where a number suits a sector only with a condition.
Choose a sector, then give either a number or a name. A number is usually a birth number or a name total already worked out; a name is totalled letter by letter in Chaldean values and reduced. If both are given, the number is used. The full grid of every sector against every number is on the page before anything is submitted.
How the industry score is worked out
The score depends on where the number sits in that sector's row of the map. The source lists the strongest number first, so position matters, and a number the source does not mention is treated as an absence of comment rather than as a negative. A condition lowers a favoured number's score and replaces the verdict with a caution.
This table shows each position the map can give a number, with the first example the checker finds for it:
| Where the number sits | Example | Score | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Named first | 2 in healthcare, pharma & wellness | 96 | Excellent |
| Named second | 1 in telecom & communications | 90 | Strong |
| Named third | 1 in construction & infrastructure | 84 | Strong |
| Favoured, with a condition | 1 in energy & electricals | 82 | Suitable with a condition |
| Named later in the list | 1 in technology & IT | 78 | Strong |
| No statement | 1 in real estate & property | 55 | Neutral |
| Not named, with a condition | 2 in manufacturing & industrial | 48 | Suitable with a condition |
| Advised against | 2 in digital marketing & advertising | 15 | Advised against |
Scores on the conditional rows depend on where the number sits in the list, so treat those figures as examples. The five verdicts are Excellent, Strong, Suitable with a condition, Neutral and Advised against.
Which business is good for each number from 1 to 9?
This is the whole map read by number. "Named first" means the source lists that number ahead of every other for the sector; the count shows how many further sectors favour it lower in their list.
| Number | Named first for | Also favoured in (sectors) | Condition attached | Advised against |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | — | 8 | Energy & electricals | — |
| 2 | Healthcare, pharma & wellness | 11 | Construction & infrastructure; Manufacturing & industrial | Digital marketing & advertising; Security & defence |
| 3 | Media, entertainment & content; Education & EdTech; Consulting & professional services; Personal brands & coaching; Restaurants & food service | 5 | Retail & FMCG | Luxury, jewellery & fashion; Textiles & apparel |
| 4 | Technology & IT; SaaS & software products; Automobile | 8 | E-commerce; Finance, lending & insurance | — |
| 5 | Real estate & property; Retail & FMCG; Import, export & trading; Digital marketing & advertising; Travel & hospitality; Logistics & transport; Agriculture & agri-business; Telecom & communications | 7 | — | — |
| 6 | Luxury, jewellery & fashion; Textiles & apparel | 8 | Retail & FMCG; Finance, lending & insurance; Personal brands & coaching | Education & EdTech; Healthcare, pharma & wellness |
| 7 | — | 12 | — | Construction & infrastructure; Manufacturing & industrial; Legal services |
| 8 | Construction & infrastructure; Legal services | 10 | E-commerce; Finance, lending & insurance; Logistics & transport; Energy & electricals; Agriculture & agri-business | Restaurants & food service |
| 9 | E-commerce; Manufacturing & industrial; Security & defence | 8 | — | Restaurants & food service |
A number with nothing in the last column is not blocked from any sector the map covers, which is an absence of restriction rather than an endorsement. For what each total means for a business beyond its sector, see what each business numerology number means.
Worked example: a logistics & transport business on 8
An invented freight company, Kestrel Works, totals 44/8 in Chaldean, so the checker reads it as 8. In logistics & transport the result scores 64 and reads "Suitable with a condition", with this note: "Strong for sea cargo and shipping, but advised against where the cargo is liquids, oil, chemicals or dairy."
The same 8 lands very differently across the map:
| Sector | Where 8 sits | Score | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Construction & infrastructure | named first of 4 | 96 | Excellent |
| Real estate & property | named second of 4 | 90 | Strong |
| Logistics & transport | named fourth of 4, with a condition | 64 | Suitable with a condition |
| Retail & FMCG | not named | 55 | Neutral |
| Restaurants & food service | advised against | 15 | Advised against |
Nothing about the name changed between those rows; only the sector did. The sector hub for logistics & transport sets out every number's standing in that trade, and the hubs for construction & infrastructure and real estate & property do the same for theirs.
How to read each part of the result
- The headline. The sector, the note explaining the reading, a score and a verdict. When a name was entered, the result also shows how it was counted.
- Favoured here and advised against here. The sector's own lists, with the checked number highlighted.
- Condition attached. Where one applies, the exact segment the source blocks, such as a type of cargo or a kind of lending.
- Where the number reads strongest. The sectors ranked for that number by their position in each sector's list.
- Cautions. Every sector across the map where the number is advised against or carries a condition.
- The full grid. Every sector against every number, each cell showing its score and tinted by it, so the strongest and weakest pairings stand out at a glance.
Lucky number for business by industry: where the source material is uneven
Not every block is equally well supported. Some rules are stated by several sources, others by one. Where a rule removes a whole sector from a number on thin support, the result labels how strong the evidence is. For 6 in education & EdTech, for instance, the result reads: "Stated emphatically by one source, with one softer corroboration."
Conditions follow the segment, not the sector. The map often favours a number for a sector in general and blocks it for one part of that sector. The checker keeps those cases as conditions instead of flattening them into a pass or a fail, because the segment is the part that matters to a founder.
Which number to check. The map is about numbers, not people, so it can be read for a business name's total or for a founder's birth number, and the two often disagree. The founder compatibility calculator shows the sector against both at once, and the business numerology score reads the sector against the name's total whenever a name is given.
Where this checker runs out
The map covers only the sectors the source material names. A trade missing from the list has not been judged and left out; there is simply nothing on it, and the checker does not guess by analogy.
Choosing an industry is a question of skills, capital, customers and regulation, and a numerology reading cannot weigh any of them. Numerology has no scientific standing, so treat the result as one traditional lens on a decision already grounded in the business case. For the wider reading of a single number in business, the page for 8 as a business number is a good starting point.
Frequently asked questions
Which business is good for number 5 in numerology?
The map names 5 first for 8 sectors: real estate & property; retail & FMCG; import, export & trading; digital marketing & advertising; travel & hospitality; logistics & transport; agriculture & agri-business; and telecom & communications. It favours 5 lower down the list in 7 more, and advises against 5 in none of the sectors it covers. As always, the sector reading is one input among several.
Which business should number 8 avoid?
The map advises against 8 outright in restaurants & food service. It attaches a condition to 8 in E-commerce; finance, lending & insurance; logistics & transport; energy & electricals; and agriculture & agri-business, where 8 suits the sector generally but is blocked for one segment of it. Run the checker for the exact condition in each case.
Should the industry be checked against the birth number or the business name number?
Both are useful and they answer different questions. The name total describes the business as it presents itself; the birth number describes the founder. The founder compatibility calculator reads the sector against both, and a gap between the two readings is worth noticing before a name is registered.
What does "suitable with a condition" mean in the industry checker?
It means the source material favours the number for the sector in general but blocks it for one segment. For 8 in logistics & transport, the condition reads: "Strong for sea cargo and shipping, but advised against where the cargo is liquids, oil, chemicals or dairy." The score is lowered to reflect that, and the condition is shown in full on the result.
Why does a number show as neutral for a sector?
Because the source material says nothing about that number in that sector. The checker treats silence as an absence of comment rather than as a warning, gives it a middling score, and names the numbers the sector does favour so the gap is clear.
What if a business does not fit any sector in the list?
Choose the closest of the 26 sectors and read the result with that in mind, or rely on the name and founder readings instead. The map only covers sectors the source material names, and the checker does not invent readings for trades outside it.
Want this worked through in one document?
The calculators answer one question at a time. A report runs the same engine across your name, your birth numbers and your sector together, and sets the results out as a PDF you can keep; the fuller reports add timing, launch dates and premises. Reports start at ₹499.
