Business Name Numerology Calculator
The business name numerology calculator totals each letter of a name using the Chaldean table (A=1, B=2 … F=8; no letter carries 9) and reduces the total to its compound number and single digit. Enter your shortlist — one name per line — and each is valued letter by letter, read against its compound, and scored against your own numbers and your industry.
What does this business name numerology calculator do?
It converts every letter of a candidate business name into a number on the Chaldean table, adds them, and reports the total as a compound over a single digit, such as 33/6, never a bare digit. Enter up to 5 names, one per line (25 when signed in), and they are ranked against each other. Add the founder's date of birth and an industry, and each name is also graded against the founder's own numbers and the sector.
It is a comparison tool rather than a name generator. It shows how the names already on a shortlist read against one another under one stated method, and it prints every letter's value so the arithmetic can be checked by hand. To build new spellings that land on a chosen number, the name recommendation engine does that job.
How can I calculate my business name number?
Four steps, and the calculator performs all of them in the order below.
- Write the name people will say and see. Registrar suffixes such as Pvt Ltd, LLP or Inc are removed automatically, and the result lists anything it removed.
- Give every letter its value. The Chaldean values are in the table below. Digits count at their face value.
- Add each word, then add the words together. That sum is the compound.
- Reduce the compound by adding its digits until one digit is left, and keep both numbers.
| Value | Letters |
|---|---|
| 1 | A, I, J, Q, Y |
| 2 | B, K, R |
| 3 | C, G, L, S |
| 4 | D, M, T |
| 5 | E, H, N, X |
| 6 | U, V, W |
| 7 | O, Z |
| 8 | F, P |
Values run from 1 to 8. No letter carries 9; it appears only as a total.
Some hand methods reduce each word first and then add the digits. That keeps the single digit but changes the compound: Saffron Loom is 55/1 read whole and 10/1 word by word. The calculator reads the whole name.
Worked example: three company names, one founder
An invented founder born on 12 June 1987 is naming a textiles and apparel business and has three candidates: Brightmere, Saffron Loom and Tallow Lane. The birth number is the day of the month reduced, 12/3. The destiny number adds every digit of the date: 1 + 2 + 0 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 34, written 34/7.
The top-ranked name, letter by letter: BRIGHTMERE = 2 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 5 = 33. Reduced, 3 + 3 = 6, so Brightmere is 33/6.
| Rank | Name | Total | Compound reading | Founder fit | Industry fit | Overall |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Brightmere | 33/6 | Excellent | Workable | Excellent | 86 |
| 2 | Saffron Loom | 55/1 | Good | Excellent | Neutral | 84 |
| 3 | Tallow Lane | 38/2 | Avoid | Strong | Strong | 52 |
Brightmere ranks first without the strongest founder fit. That belongs to Saffron Loom (Excellent), while Brightmere reads Workable. The overall weighs the other columns too, and Brightmere is ahead on the compound reading, industry fit, financial potential and stability.
Tallow Lane shows why the compound is reported. Its founder fit reads Strong, but compound 38 is one the tradition marks Avoid. That verdict caps the readings taken from the name's own number, holding financial potential, stability and growth to 32 each, and the name finishes last.
Enter the same three names, date and industry in the form above and the table comes back identical, because this page ran the same calculation to write it.
How to read the result
- Highest scoring. The leading name with its compound, its single digit and an overall score out of 100, plus meters for financial potential, stability, growth and the compound reading. Founder fit and industry fit appear when those inputs were given.
- Full ranking. Every name in one table. A column that was not supplied is left out of the overall rather than counted as zero, so a run without a date of birth ranks the names without any founder reading.
- Name by name. The letter trace with each word's subtotal, anything not counted, the compound's reading and any caution attached to it, whether the name agrees with the birth number, the destiny number, both or neither, and the industry note.
- Your target numbers. With a date of birth, the sidebar starts from the name totals the method points to for the birth number and keeps those the founder-fit verdict reads as Workable or better against both numbers, best first, adding the birth number itself where the list leaves it out, unless it is 4 or 8. For the founder above the list is 3, 6 and 9 and the targets are 3, 9 and 6. The same targets drive the name change calculator, so the two pages never disagree about what to aim at.
A score summarises the method's own rules; it is not a probability. Two names a few points apart are, for practical purposes, level, and the letter trace is the part worth reading closely.
Can I check business name numerology by date of birth?
Yes, and that is what the founder's date of birth field is for. The name's single digit is read against two numbers taken from the date: the birth number (the day, reduced) and the destiny number (the whole date, reduced). A name that agrees with both reads more strongly than one that agrees with one. A name landing exactly on one of the founder's own numbers counts as agreement, even though the raw compatibility table calls a number's relation to itself neutral, and totals of 4 and 8 are marked down as trading-name totals whatever the date.
Here is every possible name total for the founder in the worked example:
| Name total | Birth number 3 reads it as | Destiny number 7 reads it as | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | friendly | friendly | Excellent |
| 2 | friendly | neutral | Strong |
| 3 | own number | neutral | Excellent |
| 4 | neutral | neutral | Weak |
| 5 | friendly | friendly | Excellent |
| 6 | adverse | friendly | Workable |
| 7 | neutral | own number | Strong |
| 8 | neutral | neutral | Weak |
| 9 | neutral | neutral | Strong |
The reading is directional. A founder with birth number 3 reads a total of 8 as neutral, but a founder with birth number 8 reads a total of 3 as friendly, so the table cannot simply be flipped.
The longer treatment, including what to do when the two numbers disagree, is in business name numerology by date of birth.
Should I use Chaldean or Pythagorean for business names?
The calculator opens on Chaldean, the system the source material uses for business names, and offers Pythagorean under Methodology options. The two tables give most letters different values, so the same name usually lands somewhere else. The same shortlist and founder as above:
| Name | Chaldean | Founder fit | Pythagorean | Founder fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brightmere | 33/6 | Workable | 60/6 | Workable |
| Saffron Loom | 55/1 | Excellent | 53/8 | Weak |
| Tallow Lane | 38/2 | Strong | 34/7 | Strong |
One of the three verdicts changes with the letter system alone: Saffron Loom moves from Excellent to Weak. Choose one system before comparing names and stay with it. Running both and keeping the kinder answer removes the point of checking. The case for each table is set out in Chaldean and Pythagorean numerology side by side.
Pvt Ltd, ampersands and numerals: what gets counted
- Registrar suffixes are dropped. Saffron Loom Pvt Ltd is valued exactly as Saffron Loom, 55/1, and the result lists "Pvt Ltd" under what was not counted. The tradition's reasoning is that a suffix is conferred on thousands of companies alike rather than chosen.
- The ampersand is not counted, the word is. Saffron & Loom is 55/1; Saffron and Loom is 65/2.
- Numerals count at face value. Saffron Loom 24 is 61/7.
- Words the owner chose are counted in full, including descriptors such as Studio, Traders or Solutions.
- Spelling is what is valued. Accented letters are folded to their plain forms, so Café and Cafe give the same total, but a name typed in another script has no letters on the table to value. Enter the Roman spelling the business trades under.
Should I change my business name if compatibility is low?
Not on the strength of this calculator alone. A low founder fit is one reading under one method, and numerology has no scientific standing: it cannot say whether a business will do well. Where a name matters to the owner and reads poorly, the options inside this tradition are usually smaller than a rename. A spelling change can be tested in the name change calculator, and spellings aimed at the founder's target numbers can be generated with the name recommendation engine.
What this calculator does not check matters more. It cannot say whether a name is free to register as a company, whether it conflicts with a trademark, whether the domain is available, or whether customers can say and spell it. Those checks decide whether a name is usable at all, so they come first, and nothing on this page is legal or financial advice. The wider process of choosing a name is covered in how to choose a business name, and every rule the calculator applies is written down in the methodology.
Frequently asked questions
Which numerology number is good for business?
There is no single answer in this method, because a name total is read against the founder's own numbers. Across all 81 pairings of birth number and destiny number, a total of 5 reads Excellent for every one of them. Totals of 4 and 8 read Excellent for none. For every other total the answer depends on the date of birth, which is why the calculator asks for one.
Do I need a numerologist to name my business?
No. The arithmetic is mechanical and every step is shown, so a name can be checked by hand against the letter table on this page. A consultant adds interpretation and judgement about trade-offs. Neither a consultant nor a calculator can add evidence that a number affects results, because numerology is a tradition used for reflection rather than a tested predictor.
Is this business name numerology calculator free?
Yes. Up to 5 names can be analysed at a time without an account, and up to 25 when signed in. There is no charge to run it, and the letter values, totals and compound readings are shown in full rather than held back for a paid report.
Should I enter the brand name or the registered company name?
Enter the name people will say and see, which is usually the trading or brand name. If the registered name differs by more than its suffix, enter both on separate lines and compare them. Pvt Ltd, LLP, Inc and similar suffixes are stripped automatically, so leaving them in makes no difference to the total.
Why do other calculators give a different number for the same name?
Usually for one of three reasons: a different letter table, a different rule about suffixes, or a different way of adding. Saffron Loom is 55/1 on the Chaldean table and 53/8 on the Pythagorean one, and reducing each word before adding changes the compound again. A calculator that does not show its letter values cannot be checked, which is why this one prints all of them.
Can a good name number make a business succeed?
No calculation can promise that. The calculator applies a traditional method consistently and shows its working, but it knows nothing about the market, the product or the people running the business, and numerology has no scientific evidence behind it. A strong reading is best used as one input when choosing between names that are otherwise equally sound.
Does the calculator work for names written in Hindi or Tamil?
It values the Roman spelling. Accented letters are folded to their plain forms, so Café and Cafe give the same total, but a name typed in another script has no letters on the table to value. Enter the spelling the business registers and trades under in English letters, and try common alternative spellings on separate lines, since each can produce a different total.

The calculators answer one question at a time. A report runs the same engine across your name, your birth numbers and your sector together, and sets the results out as a PDF you can keep; the fuller reports add timing, launch dates and premises. Reports start at ₹499.
