The numbers 1 to 9 in business numerology

Each digit carries a planet, a temperament, a way of making money and a list of trades it suits. These nine pages set out what the source material says about each one, and what it does not say.

Business numerology works from a small number of inputs and reads them against each other. The nine single digits are the vocabulary. Everything else on this site — compound numbers, sector fit, partnership blocks, launch dates — is built from them.

Two things are worth knowing before you read a number page. First, the same digit means different things in different roles: a 1 as a birth number is not a 1 as a company name. The method keeps those layers apart and so do we. Second, the source material does not rank the digits against each other. There is no best number. There is a number that fits a founder, a sector and a name, and the work is in finding the overlap.

How to use these pages

If you are naming a company, start with your own birth number and destiny number, then read the business page for the number you are considering putting the name on. The two are different questions and the source material answers them separately.

If you are deciding whether to enter a sector, read the number page first and the industry guide second. The sector map is applied after the founder's numbers, never instead of them.

If you are assessing a partnership, the relationship table on each page is directional. A one-way friendship is a different situation from a mutual one, and the method treats it that way. Separately from the friendship table there is a short list of pairings ruled out for business outright, and those are shown on each number's page too.

Common questions

Which number is best for a business?

The source material does not name one. It matches the number to the founder and to the sector instead, and it warns specifically against assuming that 5 and 6 are good name numbers in every case. What it does state is a short avoid list for a business name: 2, 4 and 8.

What is the difference between a birth number and a name number?

The birth number comes from the day of the month you were born and is fixed. The name number comes from the letters of a name and is the only one of the three core numbers that can be changed.

Do these readings apply to the founder or to the company?

Both, and the method keeps them apart. A number can suit a founder and be wrong for the company name at the same time — 4 is the clearest case of that in the source material.
